The Marshalsea Company was founded in 1830 by Albert Marshalsea who manufactured horse-drawn carriages. By 1910 it had diversified into coach building for motor cars.
At the outbreak of World War 2, the Marshalsea factory was taken over by the RAF and used to maintain and repair fighter planes. By the end of hostilities, the manufacture of aircraft components had graduated into hydraulic systems for aircraft and guided missiles, and valves for the mining industry. In 1960 the company acquired a London-based company manufacturing hydraulic pumps. |
